The development of mental preparation package for soccer players based on mental skills of specific-soccer

Abstract

Aim:the aim of present study was to development a mental preparation package for soccer players based on mental skills of specific-soccer. Method: first researcher studied carefully effective mental skills in sport and extracted appropriate mental skills for soccer players and suggested a preliminary package of mental preparation. For specifying the content validity, components and implement of suggestive package used focused- groups and collected data related to research variables. Results: the findings showed that suggestive package have acceptable content validity and 5 appropriate mental skills for soccer players: Goal-setting, relaxation, focus, mental imagery and self-talk. Also, findings showed that the stages of implement of suggestive package are appropriate. Conclusion: the results of research provide some evidence to suggest goal-setting, relaxation, focus, mental imagery and self-talk more match to needs of soccer players. thus, according to influencing mechanisms of these skills, suggestive package is acceptable for mental preparation of soccer players.
